You’ll be fine. You’re not American. I just thought the classic was too American fraternity brother for my tastes.
It's funny with cross cultural perspectives...I always thought seersucker looks very hard boiled detective, especially in peak heat. It is the only ensemble that looks @good@ (IMO anyway) dishevelled when you are in peak heat (think heavy sweat with undone tie and slightly soiled shirt)

See, I would say a DB seersucker gives off very “keep the water fountains separate” politician vibes lol.

Of course, both are silly and left only to us neurotics, but I’d go SB in a heartbeat, especially if you’re in any way a beefier type, as I believe Jonny boy is.

I am going for the dodgy Southern lawyer look!

See l love the "keep the water fountains separate" politician look (for legal purposes the dress sense not the actual policy!) but would have never associated it with a db seersucker but now that you mention it I can't unsee it...

Idk. It was my thoughts, coming from a southern litigator (albeit not disheveled). Perhaps I was trying to get away from the whole disheveled vibe which is why I was thinking of a db. I suppose I could poll colleagues.

“HAVE SOME RESPECT AND HUMBLE YOURSELF!!!!!!!!”

Lol

But in all seriousness, I need to think about that. Wouldn’t a double breasted linen suit also give off the same vibe?

I suspect the silhouette would have a great impact on the look, as it does with every suit (but especially with double breasted suits).

A sb is definitely a safer option and easier to cut for inexperienced tailors. But the above mentioned photo is a strong argument against a db.

As one of my friends says, “bespoke is making what you want and not the keyboard warriors with Bruce Boyer books.”

they might be taking my money too haha. I will wait to see how it wears from yall before I go all in. In theory, it sounds great: a linen that does not wrinkle. But I’ll wait a year to see what people think before going all in. I already have 5 navy suits for each day of the week in the summer. So I’m in no rush.

I quite like the dishevelled look (each to their own) in the dead heat of summer as the Australian summers can be a real dog. But not for the other seasons.

Lol poor man's version of askokey! With the drapey 80s armani cut (intentional) I've been going for i think my DBs look far better. In saying that I still love my 1 buttons either peak or notch or 3 roll 2s.

I think a linen db does give off the same vibe but the oxymoron of a 3 piece linen suit gives off "extra" plantation owner "aura". In saying that i do love the neo colonial look.

Yeah i have a 100% mohair midnight navy db in the works and a 3 ply navy mohair twill in a 3 piece planned for winter so that's my navy fix done. I have also been on the earth tones bandwagon for suits lately ie chocolate brown, beige and tan...so navy not really my priority atm

Navy is never done my friend!!!! All 5 of mine are some variation of a navy fresco. I have another fabric I’m considering (although I was rather adventurous with this fabric choice: a vintage navy wool and mohair blend!). All solid of course. Some db. Some sb. I think the sb is more useful, but like the db more.

Don’t tell Luciano the southern slaveowner!!

Okey’s cut is not good on him. He’s in good physical shape so that masks a bad fit. It could look much better. The button stance is too high giving him more visual weight than he has at his waist. It’s not for me atleast.

Maybe there’s a charm to being disheveled, I’m not sure. It’s just not what Im after. Even Gregory peck didn’t look disheveled. But, I suppose, if you’re trying to look disheveled, a cotton seersucker would be better

The man from del monte says yes! Montecristi hat compulsory!

Personally I like a less extreme version of the askokey cut...which is similar to what i have currently. Though my stuff has a lower button stance than his (and though i love drape I find his to be abit to left field)

It’s always amusing to see people’s biases play out when plotting their commissions.

A seersucker suit or jacket has next to no presence within “frat bro” world, SB or otherwise. That uniform in a CM context is largely comprised of a blazer and chinos or khaki trousers.

That being said, a DB in traditional blue/white seersucker, is at a minimum a quirky choice that would have a very limited use case and would certainly paint one as a dandy or enthusiast and certainly isn’t suitable for the office or important meetings.

I think the only "unusual" item I have had people comment on in the corporate environment I work in is when I wear my silk crepe shirt. Otherwise most other items fly under the radar.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
