Yesterday I saw Isaia 9 fold ties and they are absolutely gorgeous. The silk quality and the finish were impeccable. The salesperson told me it takes one meter of silk to make. I loved the hand and they knot it creates.
Doing more than seven folds is possible and done by a number of (mostly italian) makers. However, I myself think of it as a sort of look-at-my-oh-so-many-folds thing. I doubt that the rule more folds=more value applies generally.
Is that like the shaving blade industry where there's a sort of blade race that might obliviate humankind through shaving accidents?
