Hello there. I live in a moderately cold climate and I have started loving the idea of having some woollen trousers, preferably starting off with grey then maybe a dark brown and so on so forth. I live in Ireland so anything within European and especially Britain is preferable (as it’s harder to buy American clothing here) and I am looking for good places to buy some. Any advice is welcome and thank you for your time.

I've ordered flannel weight pants from my favorite pants maker, Zanella, and they were excellent, like all pants made by Zanella.

Those are the only heavier weight pants I've purchased but they are very nice.

This Zanella? They charge some high prices and can't even provide a size table. A lot of their trousers are borderline leggings in terms of fit.

They may be advertising their tightest trouser fit (probably the "Curtis" it's called), but they have many, many more classic fitting trousers that are much looser.

They are quality trousers, comparable to brands like Zegna and Isaia.

I have taken a look at both recommendations and on first glance although the zanella website doesn’t seem to work for me. I will keep both in mind and thank you very much for your help.

Try Natalinos, but you'll have to wait for the next seasons collection for the thicker stuff.

Berg & Berg might have something appropriate as well.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
