I understand how influential he was, but I still can't get into his stand-up. He was incredibly grating to me.

I think the writers/creators of shows or acts like It's Always Sunny..., Upright Citizen's Brigade, Metalocalypse, Frisky Dingo, Venture Bros etc. are all hilarious and gifted and I appreciate what they do more for some reason. I have seen some great stand-up on stage and on FunnyOrDie.com but it doesn't appeal to me as much. Does my question make more sense now?
