Seems like we could hit all the major high end brands with more opening...I would be very curious to see what Brioni is doing.

Any volunteers? My Brioni are too new to be sacrificed...

We should have a sister website: www.darksecretsofartisans.com where we tear apart fine clothing like a Consumer Reports.

haven't done attolini yet either. No i won't volunteer mine.

EDIT: FWIW, I reached my hand up in to a half-lined borrelli to get a look at the canvassing. The main canvassing seems to be done by hand. I can't get at the lapels without destroying the jacket but I'd assume they are done by hand since the rest is. There is machine-stitching, but it looks more like the interior of the Oxxford than the Kiton.

We all know Attolini's are mostly machine-made, anyway. They freely admit as much.

Borrellis are 100% machine canvassed. Even they say as much.

I think that counts as getting to second base.

Any word on when they started doing that? It's harder to tell looking up in to a jacket than if i were to rip it open for a full view, but it looked very much like the oxxford interior and the stitching didn't look like the stitching ont he examples of machine-canvassed suits. I was only able to see the lower-chest, but it looked like the lower-chest of the oxxford, with long straight stitches as opposed to the zig-zag stitches with a thread through them like in the kiton photos. There were some loose chain stitches along the side attaching it to something, but the main part of the canvas looked like the oxxford. Lapels would have been a dead give-away but I couldn't access those. Collar was also attached by hand, fwiw.

Anyway, I'm not an expert on all the different types of stitches done by hand or machine. I recognize some but not all. I'm just comparing to what's already been posted.
