Who does your alterations in NYC?

Getting pants taken care of seems easy, my local launderer handles that with ease. Unfortunately I've had horrible luck finding someone to work on jackets/sport coats. For bespoke clothing, I take it back to the tailor that made it, but where do y'all take your coats for altering/finishing in NYC?

Downtown suggestions would be awesome, thanks!

There's a tailor on the ground floor of One Grand Central Place, at 60 E 42nd St (across from Grand Central) that does good work. He's a little pricey, but if you work nearby you can't be the convenience and quality factors.

Would you trust him to taper sleeves on a blazer? I feel like mine are too bulky and I want to make them more narrow, and perhaps make the armhole a bit higher too.

Cardilino , 23rd and Broad, reasonable price. He just did the most difficult alteration for me, recutting a pair of tux pants, ( he had to take out 5 inches in the waist), the pants came out perfect, the dual pleats on the tux pants sit perfectly flat after the recut, no pulling.

I'll second this - quality work, reasonably priced (for nyc that is!)

LNC seems quite good, just have to ignore the dingy surroundings and lack of English.

Third on this. I take everything to them. Pros and cons have been debated extensively in other threads but overall the price and the quality can't be beat. They really do some nice work. Folks complain about the son's ability over the father's skills but in the end they've never let me down and the prices are cheaper than using my local dry cleaner's in-house guy.

Another plus for Cardelino: they talked me down from an alteration that would have been expensive and most likely unsuccessful. I ended up selling the jacket, but at least I didn't sink $100+ into a losing effort.

I take them things all the time, although mostly simple alterations since I don't like to mess with the complicated stuff unless it's unavoidable.

I have been using Khaim on the UES for a couple of years (incl. alterations of bespoke suits, etc.). Not cheap, but quality work:

Have never had to do that to a jacket in all honesty, but given his (sometimes extensive) work for me on plenty of other items (including making bespoke items for me), I would. My only point of comparison among the tailors mentioned often here is Cardelino and IMO Cardelino is definitely not as good (son in particular, the father is better, although still not quite as good as LNC).
