Thanks. I tried it with a solid blue shirt first, but I was afraid the shirt would be too dark to go with the the tie since I don't have solid blue shirts that are light enough.

Fair enough. If you needed to choose between shade and pattern, I think you made the right choice.

That's exactly how I would wear it. I was even planning a similar fit in my head but wearing a suit in this weather for someone that struggles to wear suits

id like the tie better with a less business type suit, like a navy cotton unstructured SC perhaps, but it looks legit to me.

Bad lightning. Tie is burgundy wool blend and check is brown

Closet thing I have to a knit tie is a Navy grenadine fina. I haven't found a knit that isn't skinny i.e. > 3 inches.

Charvet and RLPL are normal width IIRC, they are at least wide enough that they do not appear skinny.

I do like the sozzi knit ties even though they are only about 7.5 cm. I think a square tipped knit tie looks best at that width anyways.
