Difficult one this is...

Especially since what I'd want and what I can are two different things entirely. I'd like the small local independents, although at the moment I don't consider myself knowledgeable enough to find the truly great ones. And, sadly, I don't travel enough to go on a quest for these establishments. The forum does help in the knowlegde part, I might add.

The second of the 'wants' would be the top end tailoring in the form of Kiton or (more likely) Borrelli. Of the latter I've been told that the Borrelli m-t-m pricewise isn't all too far away from Zegna m-t-m IF AND WHEN I keep the Borrelli fabric simple (i.e. chose a not too expensive fabric...). It has given me a lot to think about, but for the moment if I went the way of Borrelli, it would be for just a single suit (say). The fit of the Zegna m-t-m is now at a point where I know and like (.) what I'm getting, in a somewhat better fabric.

I also wouldn't wear a Borrelli suit to work for two reasons: 1/ I'd be on constant guard for disasters with the suit; and 2/ There is a very casual 'dress code' where I work. I am able to pull off a Zegna suit, because everyone knows I (almost) always wear a suit, but I think I'd be taking that a bit far with a Borrelli.

So that leaves the realistic choice of the middle of the road, great for everyday option. At the moment that gives me the most possibillities and satisfaction.
