I have medium to thin fair-coloured hair which I tend to grow to a maximum length of 3 inches. However, as soon as my hair gets to this length (my preferred length), the products I have tried never hold it in my chosen style. Hence, I'm after recommendations for a new product.

Over the years I've used the following:

- D:fi D:struct Pliable Molding Cream
- American Crew Fiber
- Paul Mitchell Flexible Style Lab esp

None of these give me the hold, my hair either flops after some time or more commonly a couple of the front 'quiff' hairs droop down! So I now carry on using the Paul Mitchell Style Lab with a lot of hair spray to top give the hold. But even then it takes a fair amount of spray. Surely there is an easier way!? Any products you chaps can recommend?

My natural hair looks like this:

I tend to style my hair in one of the following ways (usually the first):

I find clay works really well for styling and hold, it doesn't give you the disgusting stickiness like wax does.
