Where to buy a slimmer formal bowtie?

You might try Beau Ties Ltd. of Vermont (www.beautiesltd.com). They can certainly make you a slimmer bowtie and can probably custom-make you (at modest extra charge) one made to exact size without the adjustment doohickus.

You are not going to find an appreciably better price than $38 (except on sale/closeout items). The price spectrum for bowties is very narrow compared to four-in-hands--about $35 to $50.

I have used Beau Ties more for ascots than bowties, but I have found them a very nice outfit to work with.

Carrot and Gibbs also offer a slimmer bowtie (from 3.5 inches all the way down to 1.75 inches) as well as custom options. I've used them, and the service and quality is good.
