I have shorts of varying lengths for various uses; however, without exception the bottom hem is at the very end of the legs of the shorts.

A gentlemanly response; not merited at all by the snarky comment to which it responded. To be just a little serious, I don't find shorts that cover any part of the knee to be either attractive or comfortable. If the purpose of shorts is, in addition to ventilation/coolness, to provide more freedom of movement, then a length that interfers with the bending of the knee defeats the purpose.
