How is it? Hasn't cracked my bottle yet.
Pretty tasty, deep dark notes as you'd imagine based on the barrels used. I've taken to adding a bit of water to mellow it out while sipping. First real foray into sipping rum, and frankly I still find sherried scotch at this price point more to my palate but will give it more time.

For the higher proof stuff water does go a long way in bringing out some nice notes. But I feel like all the foursquare ECS are very bourbon/whiskey adjacent and you don't get too many "rum" notes out of them (good gateway drug I guess). If you want a wild ride pick up some higher marque Hampden. Hampden the Younger or the 2022 Great House are a great starting point to see what sipping rum can really offer IMO. And the younger is an awesome deal at around $50.

You might be right -- maybe what I need is to just jump into the rum deep end. Thanks for the recommendations

Hampden the Younger is amazing for the price.

Speaking of which, using it for a daiquiri right now
