Haha I confess to having thought similar - or alternatively
Heykal + Purple Lable + Nelton = acceptable width

I know it’s a cliche to keep in referencing Cary Grant but there’s a reason he’s revered as a gold standard of menswear. In that famous interview he gave about his style he noted that he has remained on the best dressed lists for decades most likely because he never followed fashion and always stayed away from extremes regarding collar length, lapel width, hem width etc.

I can’t help thinking that the lads who keep on posting pics of foot-gangrene-inducing strides will one day look back and ask themselves “what was I thinking?” There’s a lot of subjectivity involved in menswear but over time the more appealing standards have evolved to be considered more classic for a reason, and straying too far from that looks objectively bad.
