Am I reading this correctly that these Nettletons are a 13 AAAA? Though labeled as Teju Lizard, these appear to be sharkskin. I'm tempted, but would need to stretch them two widths (I find Nettleton generally works in a 13 AA for me).

Here are an interesting pair of shell shoes, perhaps from the 40's. I quickly looked into the newspaper archives and found that John McVey was a high-end Pennsylvania manufacturer, with abundant adverts between 1902 and mid 40's. After that I could find nothing. The shoes don't seem quite that old to me, but perhaps they are, and have had a heel replacement. Regardless, it is another shoe to add to the Cordovan list. Not mine (yet).

Found these classics which are destined for resale. Florsheim 92604. Dates 80-90 or 2000. 8D. Funky wrinkle in toe but perhaps from not being treed? Have to clean up but light wear. Just thought I’d share.

I love wholecuts and I like these. I have an email eBay alert set up for this model, but they went very quickly.
I picked them up for any interested 9D friend since they are in Orlando, not far from where I am (still working on my superhero name). They are definitely a little snug to me. In the off chance they fit, I have no friend.

Yeah, I grew up not far from that lake, but never attempted to pronounce the name. It's so long I think it was in the Guiness Book of World Records for a while.

Changing the subject; was it @suitforcourt who wanted to visit shoe factories in England on his vacation? Here’s Crockett & Jones: Tour destination

Guilty.

I figure when this pandemic breaks, we can do a group get together somewhere. A tour of shoe factories would be most appropriate. Or we hang out in Chicago near the Florsheim HQ.

I am killing time while putting together a batch of crock-pot cabbage rolls, so I snapped a picture of some of my John McHale "Viking" cap-toes on the famed Bomber last. Perhaps my favourite style of shoe for versatility and comfort and general vintage shoe happiness.

I should have someone break into your home and steal your shoe collection. Now where would one find a burglar...

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
