God damn I hate computer gaming.

I only have a lab top, but every time I have tried to install any game (regardless of whatever computer I'm using) I run into multiple problems. I just spent all last night TRYING to get Starcraft II to work and I've run into a dead end. Every solution I tried is in itself another dead end. Nothing is more frustrating than this, so at the moment I'm pretty much out 60$ with a game I can't play... and I'm pretty sure I can't even return because I bought the electronic version.

PC gamers can rag on consoles all they want but my Xbox has never caused me anywhere near this amount of trouble, at least it let me play the ******* game (and didn't make me wast 24 hours downloading, installing, downloading the patch, installing the patch...).

**** PC GAMING.

Uh this is definitely your fault. If your PC's specs can't run the game, you should know that. If it can, I'd bet you screwed up somewhere in the install process. I grabbed a few games when I fired this sucker up and each install / patch process took 15 minutes tops with no compatibility issues in spite of the fact that I'm running a 64 bit OS.

That being said, the number one advantage to console gaming and the reason it has more or less obsoleted the PC as a gaming platform at this point is exactly that - it is zero maintenance. You do not have to think about it. You just pop in a disc and off you go. With a PC you need to first build said PC, then keep it up to date, get the settings the way you want them, etc etc. Patches are mostly auto-download now but there's still some tweaking. It's a tradeoff - you get a better gameplay experience in most cases and more personalization / customization of the experience, but you pay in real $$$ and in time and effort.

I haven't played my PS3 in probably 5 months, so seriously considering selling it. I dunno what to do.

Yah it probably is my fault somehow, I just wish I at least knew how so I could fix it but mostly what happens is that the game crashes, attempts to send a diagnostic report/fix the error but then that itself crashes or just re-loops the entire process over and over again. It's also probably my computer too which has a tendency to lag on something as basic as MINECRAFT

Join the club. I haven't played with my Wii in weeks. I wish I was 5 again.

Sold my PS3 after I hadn't played it for 6 months, and haven't looked back. I just lost interest in gaming I suppose.

THIS.

Is exactly the case

To be honest though, I will probably look into dumping some money into a decent desktop and using my lab top solely for portable note taking/internet access.

But, unfortunately I spend time on this site so if I have enough money to assemble a desktop then I'd have enough money to cop more clothes...
