I have had a few dublin pairs and never noticed a problem with them...maybe he meant for a dressier boot? I find dublin has a lot of character...ddef not to shine though

Mind sharing one or two of the photos that make you feel that way? Just didn't my own search and didn't find much but it all looked fantastic. Much better than most Natural CXL ends up.

Just not a fan of how dark the brown nut dublin gets. Maybe natural will patina differently since it’s much lighter to starts. Though I do believe Dublin as the same aniline/wax finish as CXL so the burnishing effect should be similar.

For sure but I understood all those CXL and Essex leather types to not fall into the shine category

Agreed, but Nut Dublin is already so dark. I think Natural (likes like) it ends up with the golden glow everyone hopes CXL gets

I don’t think it will patina to golden. Dublin, like Essex, has red undertones. Found some pics of natural Dublin, it doesn’t get as muddy looking as brown but, but the red undertones do come out more.

All these leathers are great but can really depend on your personal preferences. Dublin and Essex are veg tanned like they do with shell cordovan. Big plus for me. I have a pair of crust horsebutt which were tanned the same way. They darkened quickly and look great.

The Dublin pics above didn’t have much wear so here are a couple pics with a bit more wear. The finishing wax make it burnish with wear and darken.

As a comparison here is a pair of Essex which were worn for three years. As you can see it doesn’t darken like Dublin does and develops a more orange color.

My crust horsebutt pair are unfinished but are darkening more like the Dublin pair but much quicker and all over for the most part. Here’s some pics I posted a while back. Before and after format.

Does Viberg ever restock boots on their site? I haven't been following the site very closely, but I really want a pair of their Matte Black Calfskin makeup. Do restocks happen on their site for the non-CXL makeups ever?

Yes they do. I would send them an email and ask. I think they used to restock based on how many people asked to be notified when their size became available

Thanks for this. These are crust horsehide so not sure how much stretch they'll have. They felt good all day yesterday so will see what shakes out with the next few wears.

Wasn't me, I've only tried on the size 10 but maybe if I have the chance I'll try and test out some 9.5's

So I've finally secured some 9.5 and wow, what a difference in fit! They are snug but by no means painful and the 10's just feel clunky comparatively. So my size 10's are officially on the chopping block.
Size 9.5 for fit

Have you signed up to be emailed when they restock your size?

What last are these? 2040?

2045. They were MTO a couple of years ago. They are quite a bit darker now since those pics were taken a while ago.

Edit. It was actually Oct 2017 when I first got them. Hmm, thought I’ve had them longer. Comparison was only after three months. Gives you an idea on how fast the crust leather darkens.

Colour 4 Horsebutt, Contrast Black Tongue, 9 Small brass eyelets, brogue cap toe, natural midsole, unstructured toe, dainite sole, no pull tab, 2030 last, Stitchdown.

If you want your size brought in let me know.

*Also... Dublin really isn't a good leather for footwear in my opinion.

Probably. When are they do in and when is payment due?

General question - how do you all decide whether to use the flat leather laces or the waxed rawhide?
