I love the unique pull-up tone on those. And I love olive/green boots. I'd pick up this makeup (there's a pair left in my size) if I didn't have several Chromepak makeups already -- and have several boots already ordered and awaiting completion or delivery.
I really enjoy these olive chromepak. They should patina nicely with some yellow and green hues down the road. I also have an Oak Chromepak but doesnt seem to have as nice of a pull up as these.

Did you grab any from the viberg archive sale online or in person? Show us what you got when they come in.

I have several Saddle Tan Chromepak makeups, and I agree that while the pull-up on them is very nice, it's not as interesting to me as on your olive ones. I dig the yellow and green hues a lot -- again, so unique.

I did! I picked up the brown Chromexcel 2020-lasted Halkett. I don't have any 2020-lasted makeups yet, and the only other Halkett I've ordered ("black cognac" boxboard shell) hasn't arrived yet.

I'm seriously thinking of the Whiskey Regency Calf 2030-lasted Halkett in the archive sale, too -- I've got another day or so to think about it (before they close the archive sale). I'm trying to resist, though, because I really need to sell some pairs to free up some shelf space. My boots have moved up to the living room, lined up behind sofas, which my wife finds both hilarious and irritating:

I'm also thinking of getting a Chromexcel backpack from Loyal Stricklin -- which comes out of my boot budget -- so I'm likely to pass on that Whiskey Regency Calf pair. (But, man, that leather looks super-interesting.)

Woah, some nice boots heading in! Congrats. All very nice choices. I have low volume and low instep feet so I'm thinking getting Halketts would be too loose on me because the laces are essentially touching .

Hilarious that your boots are now behind the couch!!

The top 2 are based on vintage military boots so can't go wrong with either. Just comes down to personal preference. I don't like the stormwelts or the general stance of the JL, but again that's my own personal hang ups. The Alden will do best in business casual, if that's what you meant to say. Caveat to all that is the 2020 last of Viberg is probably closer to like the Barrie last of Alden so will be sleeker than say Viberg's 2045 or JL's last
Why you don't like storm welt if I may ask?

So after two weeks my Vibergs finally arrived in Australia. I had no idea what to expect and have been waiting anxiously to see if they’ll even fit and worried I’d be eating a $400 import charge for a pair of boots I can’t even wear.

I also had no idea what to expect of the quality. I know people rave about them, but I wasn’t sure if that was just in comparison to cheaper US brands like Red Wing and Nicks. I have 20 pairs or so of Trickers, for example, and I’ve seen some people say they’re of similar quality. Which was a concern as I can get Trickers over here for literally a quarter of the price.

Well, i just opened up the box, gave them a once over, and tried them on, and they fit better than any other boot or pair of shoes I own (60+ pairs at this point). They make a loud “bespoke” like whoosh when I put my feet in them. I was really worried my feet would be floating around in them but luckily it’s not the case.

The finishing is also ridiculous. I love my Trickers but this is another level entirely. I’d compare them to my John Lobbs or Gaziano and Girling. The leather is thick, but softer than I imagined. The finishing near perfect (smallest issue on one boot that I doubt anyone would ever notice and I’ve come to expect on hand made shoes), the welt density is incredible and the join invisible.

My only concern is I have no idea what to expect from the TPR Horsebutt, but the guys at Division Road sent me a bunch of info on leather care (and also threw in some additional laces free of charge at my request).

My only other major concern is now I need more.

Here’s some quick pics but it’s 9pm and so they’re not the best quality:

Stunning boots. Viberg use to be hit or miss on their QC but these last couple years they've been much better.

I love those, and have a feeling that’ll be one of the makeups I regret skipping.

I love my Tricker's, too, but I have more Vibergs than any other single make in my collection, and I think you've just found out why. Congratulations and wear them well!

EDIT: What kind of care information did Division Road include with the boots? What are they recommending? I haven't purchased Vibergs from DR in a while, so I don't remember.

I assume it was multiple pages of prose that essentially says use shoe trees, brush off dirt and condition them occasionally.

Haha. No, it was more helpful than that. Basically not to condition them them until they have about 30 days worth of wear due to the heat applied resin coating. That I can brush them down but not to go too hard on the coating with a cloth, for example. I can wear them in the rain, but expect that might affect the top coat and not to worry if it does because after the first 30 days I can the condition them and give them a decent rub down and brushing which will even out the remaining coating and patina.

They said renavtaur would be fine as a conditioner (sometimes I use Saphir Nappa oil on delicate leather), and I wasn’t sure if it was a greasy leather when I ordered it, but it isn’t, so that saved me ordering a tub of greasy conditioner. And not to use wax on them and just stick with a conditioner as the leather is already infused with enough waxes and oils. (One of the reasons I got some Vibergs is I have no shoes in American leather and so I’ve never looked after something like CXL before. And yeah, I know this is Italian leather)

Basically don’t attack the top coat for thirty days and it’s not a regular calf skin style leather care routine. Which I was worried about because I’d seen a post or two on Reddit or YouTube where people had stripped the TPR coating in spots before wearing them.

I’m really hoping the colour on these doesn’t fade too much once the coating starts to wear, because I can’t get over how good these look now. The colour is perfect out the box.

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
