How does CXL Compare to Latigo?

Is one more matte than the other?

How bout durability?

The oil tan leathers are by far the most durable, but are not very prevalent right now. They are the more traditional workboot leather. But also of course harder to break in and heavier.

If you're interested in what the leather looks like, it looks like this. These are from Notre and they're nearly identical. I think the only difference is these have a dainite sole and unstructured toe.

They are, but the coffee chromepak seems like a rarity. 3sixteen said they're not getting any more, and it sounds like the material was a limited run, but who can say for sure?

I'd be very happy if they made other models on different lasts with that material.

Just picked up a pair of the Viberg x Nigel Cabourn Chukkas in size 10, going with a full size less than my "typical" brannock / dress & boot sizing. They feel good in the forefront, but I feel what I suspect is too much heel slippage. Just curious if this is the sort of thing that will be reduced as leather and sole break in, or if they feel like this to start with, they will only get worse...

Thoughts?

I can't see that improving with age. I'd try a thin insole and see if that makes a difference. Also, make sure they are laced up tightly.

In general, doesn't heel slippage reduce as the sole becomes more flexible?

Maybe a tongue pad to add more downward pressure? I feel like an insole doesn't help slip correctly as it's pushing the heel up rather than down.

It depends on the sole, not sure what soles the OP has. I've never tried a tongue pad, don't think I'd like that much. I also don't like heel pads - they never stay put. It really just depends on the individual foot and the shoe/boot. I have had some luck in the past with raising the foot slightly (which is why I suggested a thin pad), just enough to make the shoe a bit more snug and hit that sweet spot in the heel area. It's certainly worth a try. Having said all that, heel slippage is one of the most challenging areas to correct. Not impossible, but length is a lot easier to deal with.

I'm assuming they're 110 on Christys__ unlike eg, Dainite x stacked leather heels where there's solid resistance, the heel will push down the footbed__ [concave] to the shape of your heel as the boot breaks in.

I'm starting to experience less slippage on my Viberg Moctoe Chukkas already.
