I'm headed out to Vegas for the first time in over a decade, and I've been reminded about the "no sneakers" policy most clubs have. I've done my best to avoid "dress code" nightlife for the last ten years, so I've found myself without a pair of "going out" shoes. With the exception of two pair of cap-toe oxfords and one pair of Albert slippers, all of my shoes and boots are brown. I have little interest in investing in a black loafer or driver, because I know I won't incorporate them into my regular wardrobe. I'm thinking of either wearing the albert slippers with denim (which I don't really want to do), or buying a pair of "disposable" corrected-grain chelseas with glued soles.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

How much do you want to spend?

You could drop by a Cole Haan outlet and find a serviceable pair of black full-grain bit loafers for around $120.

I was looking to spend roughly $100, but I'm 4 hours away from the closest Cole Haan outlet.

Ah, that's a bummer. They sometimes put the outlet merch on the website, if you sign up for the emails. The good ones are the Ascot II, which I think can be had on Ebay NIB as well.

I think a pair of black, non-beefroll Bass Weejuns can be cool in an uncool way, if that scans. Those are ~$75.

If Aldo/H&M/Zara made shoes for actual feet, that would be a decent bet.

I'm going to dominate 'dressy' walking shoes (ECCO, Mephisto, SAS etc.), especially if you plan to hop around. In the dark, they look as dressy as the higher end, talked-about shoes here, yet they can take a beating.

Not that anyone cares, but I ended up picking up a pair of Saks house brand Chelseas off Ebay for $60. The inside says made in Italy. Anyone know which Italian company makes Saks' shoes?
