Does anyone know where to get a cloth that's similar to this?

So I feel successful in my endeavour to find reputable cloth merchants online versus what I can find through reputable tailors that I know. To that end, I feel like, after this purchase, I have the samples to figure out making a lightweight cloth wardrobe. But, this was a fun purchase, in part because I bought myself a Christmas present and I decided that I just love gun clubs and shepherd's checks, so I picked up some (seemingly) deadstock Lovat while I was at it.

Anyway, that's enough pontificating on cloth. The pictures are what matter. First off is a 430g Gun Club from Lovat's Holm collection, which I can't find on their website anymore, but apparently can still be ordered directly from Lovat.

The other one I bought... I can't defend. I liked it, and it fit with the kinds of things that I've been looking at and the kinds of weights (220g) that work for longer periods of time in the area I live, and it came with a lining and buttons... It was a suit kit in a box and I liked it so I bought it, forum opinions be damned.

It was difficult to photograph. My phone kept doing weird things with the colors. The first one is probably the truest color, though the background is over yellowed. I'm not a photographer though, never claimed to be one, so what I've got is what I've got.

I’m planning to have a sport coat made up in one of these two fabrics. I can’t decide which I like better. The brown shepherd’s check is classic, and I haven’t tried a Lovat tweed yet. The blue and brown check from W. Bill is just very nice, with the blue adding some visual interest.

What do you guys think?

I like the W. Bill over the kirkton. It's a more unique scale, whereas the Kirkton is pretty standard. I agree that the Blue adds some visual interest, but I have to say I find a 500g sport jacket hard to fathom for climes I encounter.

They’re both excellent. I have a Kirkton, and it has amazing drape but is scratchier than typical Shetland tweed due to the Cheviot wool, so going collarless in a crew neck might be uncomfortable on all but the coldest days. The W Bill looks easy to coordinate with the added navy but also kind of generic if you flip through as much social media as I do. In fact, the lack of blue in the Kirkton would make it easier to coordinate with many different colors IMO. In case of a roll-neck, one in dark green, brown, charcoal, black, and of course navy would all work. The W Bill would be more limited, esp with green. If I already had some winter jackets and was in your shoes, I’d go with the Kirton. It’ll likely outlive you, extremely warm/breathable, and the patterns are exceptional.

I remember I applied to LL and took several months to be approved. I browsed the forum for a bit but never posted anything since nothing ever happened there. Not like our CEsspool.

I remember there was a Kirby Allison video where he said he was denied entrance since he worked in "the trade".
I thought we denied your application. Looks like I’m going to have to quit in protest.
