I don't mind sharing them, but since this is a single length reserved for me, I didn't want to provoke attention to the particular cloth piece, but rather have an opinion on the weight of the fabric.

Any pictures?

I've had the 15oz Fresco 3-ply for ~3 years as a trouser.

It's not for everybody. I have never needed to press it because it just repels any form of crease. It wears sligtly warm and is quite scratchy. It's the only pants that doesnt "sway" when walking. Feels like I'm wearing tubular cardboard.

Top to bottom:

Fresco 3 ply
VBC 4 ply
Airesco 3ply
Fresco 2 ply (vintage)

If you are planning a suit, go with the 2 ply Fresco.

I have bought a few jackets/blazers recently made with a Zegna fabric that has been great for hot / tropical climates and is working really well for me as day to day smart casual jackets. An example of the fabric I have used is below.

Fabric example of what I have used for recent jackets:

I am now trying to find something similarly breathable and lightweight in a pastel pink and pastel green. Examples (of the colour only, ignore the actual blazer) of the colour I am seeking are below. I am told that Zegna doesn't have any fabric as breathable or lightweight as what I am used to for my more conservative jackets in these colours. Does anyone have any suggestions of a fabric I could source that would be breathable and lightweight for hot climates - not too thick/heavy? If anywhere was able to help I thought it may be here. I'm not looking to be walking around outside regularly but it's still very hot where I am so it's useful to have something as light and breathable as possible whilst looking smart.

Pink (I'm looking for something similar or slightly paler):

Green: Something exactly like this colour or lighter, definitely not darker.

Any help is appreciated!
Got this, cloth in the middle is from the same mill and also mine! Pink jacket will be funded next year, was too late for this year. And charcoal will be funded in Sept.

Has anyone ever had anything made out of an Escorial 6ply? I know the drapers ascot & now defunct Taylor & lodge were 480g, and people use it for an odd jacket / sports coat.

This Escorial 6ply is 330/350g (which is lighter than drapers ascot 4ply). I think the Chinese girl who was trained at dembech has used it, but she made just a jacket out of it (see YouTube below).

I checked with a few of my friends. They all used it for jackets. Has anyone had a 6 ply made up for a suit? I guess, the biggest concern would be the drape of the trousers and holding the crease line down the front. I have a pair of fox linen trousers which don’t hold their shape well (thus get little wear despite being well made).

Still on offer, or vintage?

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
