Any recommendations for mills / merchants I can order cotton gabardine from? It will be for a rain coat, so it should have some water-resistant properties. I did a cursory Google search, but the stuff that came up was more low-end fabric.
Holland&Sherry Trenchcoat Collection

So I reached out to Holland & Sherry and they quoted €319 per meter. Ouch. Does anyone have a source for H&S or perhaps suggestions for other, similar cloth?

Cheers,

P.S.

Not affiliated in any way to them, nor have I bought anything from them.

Hi Dimitris,

Thanks - as always, you come up with good suggestions! I never thought you could make a raincoat from silk, but this seems so baller I need to look into it. I will order a swatch from them.

My usual go-to for cloth, Il Vecchio Drappiere, is not back yet from summer holidays, but I‘m hoping they might have some suggestions, too.

Send a note to Ed from Panta. Often see H&S leftovers from Panta runs. Might be a good place to get a gut check on price.

Hi Dan,

It is always my pleasure to communicate, although in this case I am afraid that I was not much of an assistance since you are after something else. However, this might do the job and it is certainly something to be discussed with your tailor; quality-wise you could not miss with a Tessitura di Novara (member company of Zegna Group for some years now) fabric.

And yes, you had great successes with Il Vecchio Drappiere, so perhaps the ladies could be able to offer you a choice closer to your aspirations. I haven't still been able to visit them, but I see a progress with their site, etc.

Best,

Dimitris
