Can someone point me in the direction of any articles on how fabric content is determined? Generally, I see a lot of fabric blends - especially in coats - that don't seem to have much rhyme or reason. I understand a couple of basics, e.g. heavy wool is good for cold weather and linen is good for summer. That said, I have a few jackets (blazer, Harrington, chore jacket, blouson) that are all over the place in fabric content. I've seen 50% silk/50% cashmere, 40% wool/55% linen/5% silk, 90% wool/10% cashmere, and on and on. Thank you.

Do you mean how to tell what fibers are in a cloth when you don’t have a reference like a tag, or are you asking how to know which fibers are best for which uses?

Yes, a specialty item. The first two were midnight blue and a good dark navy. I jumped on those, but haven’t decided how much I want the green.
