I get the question, at first I would buy a length and feel this pressure to have it made up right away. The unfunded box was this box of obligation and stress.

Now I buy cloth and let it ruminate in my mind a bit and feel I feel like there are a lot worse sins of waste in life than buying a few meters of cloth and deciding not to have it made up.

Anytime I have had any unfunded liabilities, they have sat on a shelf in Chris Despos's workshop. No disillusionment to be had there. Better yet, sitting on his shelf, they seem to find their way to be made up rather than sit for too long.

I feel like its an arduous task getting all of that stuff made up. All the while seeing new stuff when I visit the tailor. When does the cycle stop?
I don't think it does. Not without some sort of intervention, anyway. We're all addicted.

What are your thoughts on the LL R&T Herringbone?

I'm thinking of trading that in for Harrison's Vintage Thistle.

It was a great suit before moths got hold of the sleeve. Soft yet sturdy, and porous enough that its weight was quite unnoticeable. I now get to see if the dark grey in the same fabric works as well. (We're holding off on the navy/RAF for another day.)

I am intrigued by the Vintage Thistle, though. Earthier colors, but much interest.

Ah thanks for the insight. The Thistle swatches with the hint of blue herringbone blow away the R&T herringbone. I'm not sure if i'll want to keep both.

Thanks everyone for the suggestion on sourcing the serge fabric. I had a sample I was trying to match from a 1980's DB jacket that was owned by my dad, made from a Zignone fabric. Above is a comparative picture and I believe to have found what I was looking for in either the Oyster 75750 (slightly too dark) and Oyster 75751 (slightly lighter). The Fox's FS392T is the closest in colour but less so in the thickness of the serge's ribs. I also like the Smith's Botany SW3544, probably for an SB blazer. It is a shame that the navy version must have already sold out.
