Anyone have any advise transporting ties? I'm moving this weekend to K.C. and I'm looking for a cheap & efficient way to transport approx. 50 ties.

I would roll them and put them in a liquor box with the cardboard dividers. You should be able to fit all 50 in there safely. Just be sure to check whatever box you use for staples, etc.

Funny. I'm moving next weekend too (though just a few miles away) and was wondering the exact same thing this evening concerning my ties, pocket squares.... I have a big plastic container that I think will hold all 50-60 of them folded and lying flat and was considering that.

While I'm not loving the thought of all that expensive silk in a cheap cardboard liquor box, j's idea may be an inexpensive alternative for a longer move. Come to think of it, you can get one of those big ass tupperwares at wal-mart for like $8 and considering the replacement cost of 50 ties (at least $6K-$7K), it's probably worth it.

That's a great idea; I would have never thought about that. Now all I need to do is find the nearest liquour store!

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
