Here are pictures of the crust-leather oxfords on the "Alan" last in UK 7 with the pressure spot directly above the vamp where the tongue, quarters and vamp as upper meet (finger on the pressure point). Otherwse I have plenty of toe space and they are comfortable, wearing them in the office on the carpet.

What do you think? Size up or simply stretch the shoe at the pressure point?

The manufacturing quality is impressive for the price, because the uncolored crust-leather cannot hide any defects and all stichings, fudging, welt etc. are prefectly aligned and well done.

Best regards

Pascal

I love that natural colour. Instead of "patinating" it, I would just darken the tip a little and enjoy the natural patina the leather will develop.

Hello DorianGreen,

the natural crust-leather is to light for my taste. I think of a lightbrown -light hazelnut - hazelnut revers patina for a lightbrown oxford for my summer suits.

Also mid-grey & dark grey, as well as saphir blue & navy blue, partinas are on the drawin board.

Best regards

It's a colour for the summer, of course, to pair with light shades.

You seem to have already made up your mind, I can only wish you to obtain the result wanted.

Thanks DorianGreen,

before applying the patina to the shoes, I will practice it on crust-leather I bought cheaply from the leather shop online.

Best regards

My BF MTO came in and I thought I might post some photos since the most popular STB seems to be the 135 while I ordered the 136. Dark brown hatch grain leather with double leather soles.

Overall very happy; these are my first pair of TLBs. Only "defect" I noticed is that the welt on the right shoe toe is not as finished as closely as the left, so it looks visibly longer from the top down view. I expect this can be corrected later when I have Vibram rubber installed at some point.

Those look amazing. Funny, you referred to them as STBs and in this case they are actually STDerbies.

@TLB Mallorca :

Do you offer crust-leather in your MTO-Program, or RTW crust-leather shoes ?

Best regards

Just an update with the order issue:

I received the return labels from TLB. It was received back by them last Monday 01/13/2025. Was told they will get back to me once the pair I ordered ships. I am they would give it an extra quicker turn around time. I will update on here on whatever happens.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
