Allegedly.  Whoever makes the Hilditch & Key Finest Silk - Hand Made collection is up there as well.  One of the best ties I own. Ernest, I'll take a pass on the cheap chinese.  Maybe a sandwich grec frites (because I like it the lamb) or an orange pressee at La Mosquee de Paris?

I'll let that one slip Ernest. Better make sure you use words which you know the meaning of beforehand.

I agree with H&B being on par with Charles Hill. Only one of my two H&B ties is self-tipped, however. The self-keeper is hit and miss on English ties, too. I have CH ties with no self-keeper and even Drake's doesn't sew its keeper into the center seam.

I suspect that T&A ties at least used to be made by Charles Hill. The tipping that is used is awfully similar for them not to be. I suspect Ede & Ravenscroft of using CH, too.

Oh, I'd bet good money he does know.

AlanC -- I think we've had this conversation before -- my Drakes' keeper is sewn in, so it must vary depending on year or mood or something. The self-tipping on HB is with the unprinted base color of the silk.

Ernest, is that how you really feel?

Shoot, now you tell me: I saw a beautiful Drake tie in the Netherlands two weeks ago, brown and cream, and did not buy it because I didn't recognize the label and wasn't sure of the quality..
Fabienne...

This was where? In Maastricht perchance?

BTW, gentlemen, do you know who made "handmade in England from English silk" ties for Charles Tyrwhitt?

Ernest:

Offensive words. Particularly in the current cultural climate.

Please refrain from using language like this or I'll (sadly) have to ask J. to ban you...

We all enjoy you, but you've crossed the line so many times...

Like Grayson it's just getting to be more trouble than it's worth putting out fires you start.

Hey Steve,

What's up?  I took the liberty of, um, correcting ernest's trangressions.

Ernest, I would hate to ask j. to ban you as well, but a full week in the public stockades would hardly be cruel and unusual punishment in your case.
