I'm going to New York City tomorrow to see a play, and I thought it'd be a nice idea to check out some thrift stores and get myself sized for Allen-Edmonds while I'm there. (If you've seen my "do these shoes fit" thread, I'm going to get a AE salesman's opinion before I make my final decision.) I'll be at 236 West 45th Street (Between Broadway and 8th Avenue). Which thrift stores and shoe stores do you guys recommend I check out within a reasonable distance?

They are all really good - all high end designers, could be hit or miss this time of year though. There is about 5-6 really good ones - cancer care, memorial sloan, arthritis foundation, etc. BIZ designer resale is pretty good too, on lex I think and 87?

Gentleman's Resale in the mid-80's off 2nd Ave can occassionally have some great items. The brand names are often expensive, but others can be quite reasonable.
