Ran across the Allen Edmonds Kenilworth recently. Looks like they are new this season for AE:

What do you think of these? Plain-toe blucher with a sleeker last than the Leeds. The burnishing on the dark brown also looks nice. The shoe looks pretty versatile. Also, interesting that the price is slightly below other AE's. I own a pair of dark brown Leeds but always felt they are too clunky for anything but denim.

Do you think it would work well as a transition shoe from denim to suits? Is it worth grabbing a pair as a single shoe that can be worn on trips requiring casual -> formal?

The shoes look great in person, I agree. The only question I have is this, at the lower price point, does the shoe quality suffer? I have not confirmed if the leather is calf leather, like most of their other offerings. Otherwise, I'm sold, very versatile.

I think it is a great looking shoe. I think the $279 pricepoint is promotional as they have done on select styles before.

I own the Lamberts (discontinued), which are pretty much exactly like this, but with two eyelets and in pebble grain calf. I think a plain toe blucher suitable for a variety of situations looks much better in pebble grain.

My local mens store has these in stock - and the brown ones look great in person, in my opinion. I wish I needed a brown plaintoe so I would have an excuse to buy these.

I think (and my local mens store thinks this also) the price is a promotional thing. I bought some calf Bradleys about 6 months ago at $249. After a couple of months at that price, they went to $325. I am thinking the Kenilworth will be $325 before long - so act now if you are wanting these.

Not excited about them - a bit dull like most recent new AE styles.

I just got a pair since the Park Aves seem a lil much for my casual tastes. First pair of AE's, hugely disappointed... In my normal dress shoe size the toe box has about 1.5 inches of extra room and they look long as **** because of it. Are all AE's constructed like this? I suppose I could size down and go for a wider shoe but I wouldn't expect to have to do so on a $300 pair of shoes.

It really depends on the last. And yes for the Kennilworths you do have to drop a size. Did you try them on in a store?

I think this is a great pair of shoes and I have had my eye on them since they came out. Just picked up a pair on Amazon for 218 UDS (including shipping).

I can vouch that they are in fact calfskin.

AE's generally run large. I wear a 7.5-8 in normal dress shows and a 7D in AE. In athletic shoes I am a 9. Very much worth trying on before you buy.

This.

I'm a 9.5-10 in Nike running shoes and an 8D or 7.5E on all of the AE lasts.
