Not suggesting an easier fit to be a lower or deeper fit but wider front to back so the trouser leg moves with you rather than being so tight that there is constant friction.

How can I get an extra swatch of fabric for the crotch repair from my suit somewhere - is that any particular location of the suit jacket or pants where there will definitely be extra fabric? Or should I just be looking for a similar fabric from any tailor?

It's a RTW YSL suit so can't get the fabric from my tailor unfortunately.

Ask at the store you purchased the suit from. As they sell and alter others of the same cloth they may save the cut off cloth from hemming for you. Unless they return this extra piece to each client. The only place on a jacket I can think of to find a big enough piece is on the facings below the button to the hem of the jacket. Take cloth from there and replace with a similar color and weight cloth.

Thanks Despos. Unfortunately I bought it from Mr Porter and I had the pants altered at a local alterations place (but, as mentioned, forgot to get them to give me back the extra fabric from the hemming as I haven't had this happen before).

I know it's a fairly non-visible place so I would be OK with using a similar coloured cloth but query where I would get that from... There's no hole there yet, just some pilling (and the crotch seam is pulling a little). Does the issue need to be addressed via loosening the crotch somehow instead?

I am starting to have that problem now. Literally ALL my suits pants are looking like the OP's pics up there.:embar:

Edit,

I used a razor to shave off the wool stubble and it looks better.
Be careful not to use too much strength and make holes on there.
