I recently did something similar but felt sorta awkward. Wouldn't it look nicer with a more casual look? Dress slacks, sweater shirt and sneakers kinda thing, maybe a ballcap...

An old (really old) blue collar Californian finds that a very familiar look.

It is some mid-century workwear for sure. With the Pendleton shadow plaid it is 100% retro, which I usually try to avoid. No point trying to fight it all the time, though.
