You need to ditch the denim from now on.  It doesn't fit the rest of your overall "hobo chic" look.

I only went out to do some post holiday shopping so I wore jeans to be comfy. I wear size 42 waist nowadays and it's hard to find more fashiony bottoms in that size. Any recommendations?

Some Yohji bottoms with elastic waists can work. Or a custom order from Zam, but that might only be possible if you can visit him in Brooklyn.

I get the comfort and size issue. As far as recs, I think you'd do better to wear something non-denim and with a looser fit. Something in black or brown wool, for example, with derbies or similar shoes.

See, the top part of that pic says hobo but the bottom says workwear. Take a look at Charlie Chaplin for inspiration, I feel like that's where your style is heading.

Edit: etostano had good suggestions, too.

I don't really agree w that. The fit is pretty workwear-ish to me and the jeans are fine.

I think what habitant wanted to convey came out wrong maybe.

Other suggestions: milsurp type cargos or khakis.

+1 penanceroyaltea ^ I think blue denim goes fine with an olive green M65 type jacket and brown workboots. I like the pop of red in the scarf and the bag.
