dude! i have the same sweater and same issue, if you come across something that you feel works well let me know. this is a great look btw.
I think a shawl collar sweater like this works well with something double breasted (DB kinda mimics the folded over shape of the shawl collar to me) and a little old-timey/rugged, with a softer-shaped lapel/collar. Something like a peacoat.

Agree the scarf looks good with it!
