Is the DJ for $4K from a shop on Wisconsin Avenue in Georgetown?
View attachment 956291 View attachment 956292 View attachment 956294 View attachment 956296 Stopped by Tiny Jewel Box here in DC based on recommendations from the thread. Tried on DJ 36 and 41 as well as IWC 3714. I’m leaning toward a DJ36 after trying them on. Cartier pic is my daily wear for reference.
Ideally I’d go with stick numerals, blue face, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. Found another shop while walking and they have a blue face/stick, random serial box (no papers) for $4k, which seems like a pretty good price. It’s not 100% what I wanted, but strongly considering for the price.
No idea on the serial numbers, sorry....maybe one of the die-hard Crown fans can help out.
But here's another big +1 on that 36mm DJ. Looks like it's made for you. And the blue is just interesting enough, IMO that it will be plenty versatile and you won't grow tired of it.
That could be a lifetime watch.
$3700!!I stopped by again today with cash in hand. We’re working on a deal for it. I’m pushing for another couple hundred off because it doesn’t have the warranty card. I can wait a couple of days - they’d be shipping it to me anyway.
Anyone with knowledge of how the random serials work? It just strikes me as weird the serial on the blue DJ - the model is a 116200 and the serial on the hang tag and rehaut is 1162##X#. Everything else seems fine about the piece and it’s from what seems to be a very reputable store...though not an AD and no stamped card.
The random serial number is exactly what is sounds like, random. My GMT BLNR (Batman) has a completely random serial number with only 3 numerals before the letters start then more numbers. It has nothing to do with the model number, and mine was purchased brand new at an AD. If you have any doubts ...then maybe it isn't the right piece. A good deal isn't much of a deal if you don't have peace of mind about what you are buying. The old saying is always buy the seller. Good luck with whatever you decide.
