Before the inevitable "it's just a fake Lange 1"/"it has its own inherent merit" debate (or not), I'd like to say that either way, this is one that I like more for its distinctiveness. Apart from the dark grey dial, the sueded croc strap makes a massive difference to how it feels. It's a lot more relaxed than a Lange, more jazz than classical. And of course, it's steel and cheaper. I've liked it ever since I tried one on a couple of years ago.

I've seen them around for about $7k new. I'm sure there are plenty of alternatives, but with a good discount or used, there's a lot going for this one in particular: that awesome strap, the slightly quirky dial layout, beautiful in house movement with great hand finishing (and every balance cock is unique to the engraver's whim). Even if you do think it's a poor man's Lange 1, at a small fraction of the price, so what? This one's cool.

Yeah, $7.2k new the best I've found thus far. The dial color is just so lovely paired with the steel.

@scottcw: Of the three watches you posted, the Sub and the Speedy are indisputably iconic, the Carrera arguably so. When going vintage, buy what you love and buy on condition. All things being equal, I favor the Ed White because it will be the most difficult to source in the future in good condition. But you can't go wrong with any of the three.

I like it. I would say it's very versatile. I can see it looking sharp with a suit and being worn more sportily.
