This past weekend I went to my local Cartier boutique to pick up the new strap for my Tank LC XL. I had lost a significant amount weight in the last 2 years and the old strap was now far too long. I simply replaced it with a shorter classic black semi matt alligator.

While I was there, I notice the new steel large Tank Americaine in one of the showcases. It's slightly shorter, narrower, and thinner than the previous model. It has a new movement, caliber 1899mc, which eliminated the date and seconds hand, which allowed them to reduce the case thickness by 1mm.

The unlike my Tank LC, or Santos, rather than a guilloche or sunburst dial, this dial is sort of a vertical brushed finish. It has the classic Roman Numerals, that get larger towards the corners, and the V of the Roman VII has the "Secret signature." It also has the larger more modern style winding crown, set with a blue spinel. I know many people here are not fans of the deployant clasp, but I really like the modern version with safety buttons on the sides.

So I walked in intending to pick up the new strap for the Tank LC XL, and ended up walking out with a second Tank too! :-D

Overall the curved case is very comfortable, but it makes it one of the tougher pieces I've ever tried to photograph. Oh well, a small price to pay.

So far I'm very happy with it. It came with a dark blue alligator strap, that is too long, so they have a shorter one in a slightly different shade of navy blue (with a black lining) on an expedited order for me.

TBH my friend, what I prefer is the bottle!
I hope the content is as good as the packaging.

Breitling quietly snuck this all-titanium Chronomat into its lineup. Not bad. Not bad at all.
People love to dunk on Breitling, and most of their designs aren't for me, but I do like those Chronomat pieces. I do think they're overpriced, though, compared to what else is available at the same MSRP.

I, personally,

care little for Breitling, but my sister gave me the only one I own.

I've been thinking about adding something in titanium to my collection. I usually find most Breitling designs go too far. For me there is almost always some design cue that if they had stopped just one step sooner, they'd have a better looking watch. The Chronomat isn't bad, but with their pricing...

Even if you aren't a big Breitling fan, that's not bad looking. I liked the blue dial version. The new ones just look bizarre with lugs that look tiny, a very busy dial with indices going over/through the lum, and a silly diamond shape design running through the lum on the hour hand!

I like these, but not on the bracelet...one of these would be fun summer dive watch on a Nato. I've often thought about picking one up if I found a good enough deal. Like most Breathings though, I find their pricing a tall ask.

Wow, I haven't seen one of those in quite a while. Congrats!

Thanks, Dino! I've been very very into the neo-vintage rabbit hole lately.

It's been an adventure reading about the history of the movement, design, brand, and everything else associated with the watch. The Piguet 1185 movement is so cool

Your welcome! I remember first seeing that model back in the late 90s. The F.Piguet 1185 is fantastic movement and as I'm sure you know Breguet, AP, VC, Cartier and Chopard have used it in various chronographs in the past. My Pasha 950 Chronograph uses the same movement as its base.

Thanks Tex! I like the green alligator strap! I might look at their green strap options the next time I visit the boutique.

Yeah, now I'm annoyed I wasn't given a bottle when I made some mother's day purchases last year.
Interestingly they are no longer allowed to serve champagne when a customer is in the boutique shopping (some new policy). I'm far from one of their best customers, but if you get a good SA, remain in regular contact with the SA, and make your purchases through that one person, you can get some nice gifts around birthdays, anniversaries, holidays etc. I've received champagne, chocolates, stationary, coffee table books, bouquets of flowers in vases, little porcelain limoges trinket trays with the Santos biplane motifs, limoges trinket trays withe the images of the 5th Ave Flagship store etc. Except for the champagne the other items were sent to my home. From what I've heard if you spend tremendous amounts they send some very elaborate gifts, but I'm just local riffraff so I don't qualify for that stuff :rotflmao:
