The numerals kill it for me. Too “Explorer” for a dress Rolex.

I agree, although to me they look more like Panerai numerals (the open 9, especially). I don't dislike the numerals themselves, but they don't seem to fit the other aesthetics. I really do like the bezel a lot.

i have half a mind to buy a Zulu time, depending how well the 39 wears in person (have only tried the original 42mm variation) and the bezel colors are a draw for me. this looks clearly aimed at the BBPro from Tudor with the yellow, and stainless bezels aren't usually my jam.
yet, the more i look at it the more i like it. i would have to see in person however.

Big plus point, the absence of the stars. Differently from you, I like steel, not coloured bezels.

I really like it.

The platinum bracelet is gorgeous. I like the case / size. Probably in the top 5-10 watches for me this year.

That said, I remain unconvinced by the silver hands and the sunburst dial. I think it could be improved in a different configuration.

After I posted this, I thought about it more. I guess I want the Tank Normale reissue to be a closer representative to the watch that was reissued. But I also complain about 1 to 1 reissues as compared to an original take on a previously made watch. So I guess I do commend Cartier for not being too derivative.

Much impressed by that gorgeous bracelet.

Hodinkee’s return policy is pretty great. Risk free to buy, try & return.
