In uncertain times people are hesitant to drop that much money on things like this. For anyone invested in the markets, most through a combination of 401k and individual investments, we’ve just see up to 30% of our nest eggs wiped out.

It will be a long while still until a vaccine is ready for mass distribution. The recovery will only take off then. I predict a long and deep recession unfortunately. Luxury watches will be the last thing 99% of the world will care about. If you got the cash, probably more prudent to put it in the market. With luck, your gains following the recovery will more than cover the pre-COVID19 prices of the most desirable pieces.

Perhaps Rolex's refusal to invest massively to boost production capacity now starts to look a little less curious?

If one of my AD's calls - i will take a Daytona at retail.

I may be mistaken, but aren’t the AD’s obligated to sell at the MSRP? I thought it was a contractual agreement with Rolex. Maybe I’m wrong.

The gray market can certainly sell for whatever the market dictates.

That is what I meant by "retail" the MSRP. $13,150 (and not the gray market premium).....
