Davro, you are quite wrong. However trendy it is at the moment, the Sub is clearly a sub-optimal choice for business wear in the longer term. The OP is perfect for everything.

However, I am happy to concede that the Sub is perfect for everything else.

:nest:
Who said anything about a Sub? Do I look like an asshole? :) I was talking about the perfect everything watch, which is the 36mm Explorer.

As a one watch man, I love having the date*. Get back to me in 2 months though.

*this is in spite of the fact that Tudor stupidly removed the lil sliver of lume next to the date on the 5-line Pelagos. That pip really balanced out the dial.

Unfortunately, we had a break in yesterday and were relieved of most of my watches and her jewelry. I am obviously devastated, but no one is hurt and its just stuff at the end of the day. I am embarrassed to say that we were not employing a safe and I had not completed the Jeweler's Mutual policy I had begun earlier in the week. Timing, eh? Needless to say, we are woefully underinsured, so a very expensive lesson learned. We are choosing not to dwell on the sentimental loss, nor the monetary foolishness as life will go on.

As it happens, we leave for Prague tomorrow, and I know of all places, this thread will inform me of places to drown my horological sorrows when I arrive. So, where do I need to go to perhaps restart my watch collection whilst in country? THanks indeed.

So sorry to hear about that. Hopefully those of us who are still gambling with uninsured watches can take a lesson this - I know I've personally been saying, "yeah, well add that rider to the renter's insurance next week" since I bought her engagement ring 2 1/2 years ago.

You should call the the local pawn shops and keep an eye on Craigslist. The same desperation that leads to committing burglary lends itself to stupid impatience afterwards.

Really sorry to hear that Bobby D. Expensive as it is, I hope the inevitable binge of shopping will take away the sting!

I've never been to Prague, but what's your route? If you pass through London there are still some decent deals to be done with this exchange rate. By the way, better to buy in airport duty free if new - the VAT refund system doesn't save quite as much as not paying it in the first place.
Travel safe!

Any recommendations for forums to read for vintage watch buying? I want to get a vintage Speedy, preferably pre-moon.
