I also prefer the look of the oyster if forced to choose. But having it on 2 other Rolex sports watches, I like the variety the Pepsi on jubilee adds. Interesting that the new sprite is offered on both. Can’t hate on a relaxing Sunday afternoon by the pool, though. Cheers!
Speaking of the GMT, my AD says they can order my the oyster bracelet. Im gonna just do that. I think the watch looks way better on it.

It's hype if anyone else talks about Rolex or Patek. If Foo talks about Rolex or Patek, it's thoughtful and critical scrutinizing of popular opinions and hype.I’m old enough to remember talking about the Piaget Polo and Polo S on this thread. Hype watches?
I frequently post 36 DJ. Hype watch?
Vintage Omega DeVille: Hype watch?
Mmmm… interesting. Thank you.If using your iPhone, download Adobe LR. You can then take RAW photos and then make fine adjustments to exposure and highlights/shadows. That will get you 90% of the way there.

Actually when it comes to watches that are more bracelet than watch, Piaget was the king of that domain. Its creator Yves Piaget described it as "A watch bracelet rather than merely a wristwatch." Back in its day this was the watch celebrities such as Roger Moore, Brooke Shields, Andy Warhol, Ursula Andress and others wore.
For those who found the full bracelet watch a bit overpowering, they eventually offered a version of the round Polo on a strap, which was featured in the movie Planes, Trains & Automobiles. Steve Martin wears it and trades it along with $17 for a night in a hotel.
Actually, I don't mind a watch that is a lot of bracelet and I like watches with integrated bracelets such as a RO, Nautilus, 222, Overeas, etc. They always look and feel and bit different than a watch with a case can be removed and worn separately from its bracelet. Its blingy, but I like the original Piaget Polo far more than any of their later creations that carried the Polo name. Its not for everyone, but very few watches are.
Basically buy one watch? What are you trying to get out of that "relationship"? I'm guessing the 222 isn't happening with a single purchase.
Cartier Santos in terms of affordability and availabilityThanks for sharing your Polo S thoughts! If m not mistaken, you have a similarly negative view on GP Laureato?
Which leads me to...what about Chopard Alpine Eagle? And to cut to the chase even further: It seems like their aren’t a lot of good options for an “elegant/sports” watch that isn’t of the currently unobtainable variety (nautilus, RO, Overseas) that doesn’t blatantly mimic nautilus, RO, Overseas?
Folks, what is the best non- Nautilus, RO, Overseas (that fits within that category)?
I know Newc went with the octof.
Other non-hype options?
Curious...
Cartier Santos in terms of affordability and availability
Cartier Santos, as previously mentioned, is very nice. Albeit at a very different price point (and, I suppose, workmanship) from the Santos and Alpine Eagle, there is the Baume & Mercier Riviera which looks very much like the AE. To me, though, it's different enough to be its own thing.Which leads me to...what about Chopard Alpine Eagle? Still has the old 1861 movement with the ****** bracelet and it's a two tone Speedmaster. Can you guys please pick this watch to pieces so I don't have to buy it? TIA View attachment 1775412
Drawing blanks then. Maybe Moser Streamliner but those are getting really hard to get.Good call!
My reaction, though, is to think I wasn't specific enough. For instance, I have a SS DJ, which could also ostensibly fill this position. However, I think of the DJ as a "classic" sport/dress watch. And I put the Santos in this category too. So maybe by "elegant" I actually meant something more like a mix between "modern" and "sexy/cool" rather than classic and beautiful. What do you think? I feel like the Santos is primarily a dress watch despite being labelled otherwise. Perhaps I'm wrong...? I mean, the Santos would seem to nail this category...
