Hello! Up for sale is this beautiful black sheepskin shearling/suede outer James Grose bomber jacket. It is size 42, but fits more like 38-40 (a SLIM 40 at that) with the thick shearling inside. Unfortunately it fits too tight for me. I know Derek says jackets look better open, but I want to be able to breathe when it gets cold and the zipper is up! For reference, I am a solid M / 40R on most things. Would be open to swap for a size 44 as well.

If it fits you it’s good stuff, I’m US36 end up getting 40 to be able to zip up so jive with this sizing experience (edit as in 40 should go for 44 and this 42 would fit a 38)

I ditto clee sizing advice. I have it in size 44 but usually wear 40. It's the sleeves that are particularly skinny. I find it surprising that JG doesn't cut the sleeves looser to account for the shearling. It's basically size up one size for British sizing and then size up one more for the shearling.

This might fit you then. I have broad shoulders as well, 19.5-20” in sport coats, and usually 45” chest for the same. These are cut very generously

How do folks size in these coats? I'm a 43" chest with broader shoulders. I've only seen them listed up to size 42 and figured I'd need that, but the discussion about upsizing for Valstar/downsizing for Kaptain Sunshine has me (delusional?) thinking this might fit me.

I'm a 43" and a KS 40 fit me including over a sweater, although trimmer than the intended oversized fit. FWIW I sized up to a 42 in large part because the 40 sleeves and overall length were too short for my height, so I'd recommend double checking the sleeve and overall length work for you.

My thoughts are that this would fit like a standard 42 or US Large. I was between a 42-44 when I bought it. I'm a standard 42 now and it fits better.

When I measure, I get the following:

Chest: 23"
Shoulder (seam to seam) 19"
Sleeve (shoulder seam to sleeve hem straight) 28"
Hem width 19"
Back Length 28"
