btw the +J vest thing was a cool looking piece but IMO there's a practicality problem...

it's actually pretty big and chunky, meaning I think it'd actually be hard to use as a layering item because of the bulk, and if you're going to use it on it's own just over a sweater or something, then it'll work as a good looking fashion type thing but if it's cold enough to wear a sweater and a chunky vest, then it's probably cold enough for a jacket. I dunno, maybe it'd work to wear over a suit/sportscoat. Nice looking item but I couldn't figure out practically how I would have worn it and the ULD seems better as a thin warm layer IMO

do they pill easily? i'm looking for cheap merino and i've heard that uniqlo ones pile easily and HMs not so much
I've had a merino wool sweater for almost 2 years now, still holds up great and very comfortable - doesn't seem to be the general experience, though. It's also pretty thin in my experience.

thanks, I hope it doesn't pill too bad.
do you feel warm in them?
I plan to wear their wool sweater along with their new extra warm heat tech and an outer. I hope that will be good enough for winter.
THe only thing is I much prefer the fit of H&M's merino wool sweaters, but with a monday sale at Uniqlo for $12 per sweater, I can get two of them for the price of one H&M.

I found woolovers significantly better warmth wise, but I've had the cashmere ones and they feel nice and soft. Can't speak on the durability but they're kinda different. Sometimes I prefer thinner ones.

You haven't figured out how to wear clothes yet either.

my experience with "uniqlo" socks for anyone on the fence about them. one word: dissapointed and hungry. i bought one pair of the black seedstitch three years ago on sale to replace the pair of black socks from h&m i found in the dumpster behind h&m, and today to my horror i discovered that the uniqlo socks have begun to develop a hole around the lucky overgrown big toe toenail area. to have something like this happen after only a few years of daily wear is unacceptale. buyer beware

ps please send me money on paypal, i am literally not kidding homeless and my feet are cold god bless

Just get a real pair of snowboarding pants, they need to be really elastic at the bottom to fit over your boots, plus you want gaiters there to keep the snow out of your leg.

The uniqlo socks I have are pretty disappointing too as they lose color and become very frayed after 1 or 2 wears, and I hand wash and hang dry my socks/underwear too so it's not like I really ruined them washing/drying. That said that's kind of true for all cheap socks or even slightly more expensive ones. That's just the nature of socks, + the price is low so I wouldn't say they aren't worth it. They are just somewhat disposable, especially if you wear the color ones. If you use dark socks I think it won't be noticeable.
