I like pink too but not as much at 42 as I did at 22 or 32....I prefer lavender or french blue these days....maybe it's the extra grey in what hair i have left?

I have 2 pink shirts in my collection and wear them often. They are great with navy suits and look better on me than lots of other colors. I plan on wearing one to an academic conference this Friday. I am student and know I will be overdressed compared to the other students, but I do not care. I was wondering if I can get away with a navy suit, pink shirt, and solid navy tie? I usually wear a green tie with dark pink dots on it but want to try to wear this solid navy tie for once. I was just wondering if navy suit and tie will throw it all off.

Great purchase Foxx. I get more compliments on my pink shirts (OCBDs, polos, spread collar broadcloth...) than any other single type of clothing. I've even been complimented on how great my pink polo made my complexion look! Your pink shirt should look great with navy, blues, or grays. Your skin/hair contrast shouldn't deter you from wearing pink, it only determines which shade of pink works best for you.

After your pink twill, try out different patterns. Pink gingham is one of my favorites.

Anybody worried pink shirts = gay.
That's not true is it? But it's what I always heard.

It is a great look, but only if you have a lot of dress shirts. You really don't want people saying "look he is wearing that pink checked shirt again". That being said, out of the pinks, gingham is my favorite after oxford cloth. I don't like french cuffs, but I am in a very small minority here with that opinion. It may even be a minority of one.

If you are worried, then you shouldn't wear them.

Pink shirts are great.

I have a checked one that I wear with a grey suit and black grenadine tie. It looks just fine.

I think pink is quite nice. But, having read the original post (and having just bought a book about color) I would suggest picking the right shade of pink.

You mentioned not looking very - or feeling - very good in white. I wonder about your skin tone and hair color.

Dark hair and fair skin looks good with a very icy pink, whereas a powdery pink or pastel pink seems to go better with warmer skin tones and blondish hair.

hey, thanks for all the great comments and advice on the pink shirt. i'm hoping it works best with a solid tie, as i'm pretty sure i don't have a single tie with pink in it!
