It's been done before. If you're among friends and feel comfy, don't rule it out.

How does everyone feel about tartan trousers with an otherwise standard black tie rig? I’m thinking to go red or blackwatch trousers for a Christmas event.
Nowadays (yes, exceptions exist, of course) the tartan pants will likely receive more compliments than the "correct" trousers.

First outing for new Sean O’ Flynn dress shirt last night. How do people stop the front of the shirt riding up?

Let me know if you figure anything out, I've had similar problems with my RTW brooks brothers shirt...i'm not sure if its the studs, or maybe i should ask for my shirt to have heavy starch next time i have it laundered

I had a BBGF pleated shirt that did that as well. Very annoying. Switched it out for a slimmer-fitting Hickey Freeman. It still rides up a bit. Must be the lack of a belt?

I sent Sean the photo. He said I should wash the shirt as that will hello the front shirt flat. If it’s still a problem he’ll fit a tab to attach to my trouser waistband.

Quick question - Is it acceptable to wear a normal French cuff white dress shirt with mother of pearl buttons showing with a tuxedo?

I understand traditionally the shirts have stud or covered buttons, however I have seen many people wear normal mother of pearl buttons, including Prince William, David Beckham etc.

Thanks!

I can't visualize the fabric, but it ought to be fine.

You can if you want to. Personally, I think it's regrettable. Assuming you've got your own tuxedo, why wouldn't you buy a decent shirt to go with it?
