Today's attire is WAYWRN - the Evening Edition. I am, for my sins (and a sizable check) this evening attending the Frick Autumn Dinner, an annual fund raiser for the museum. With temperatures around 18C/64F, I am pushing the limit when it comes to the wearing of a velvet jacket (if I melt, I melt), but I've owned the garment for about a year now - it needs its maiden voyage. (Ditto for the trousers, socks, and shoes.)
I seem to recall when you bought this jacket but I did not realize that you hadn't worn it yet. It looks mighty fine indeed. In fact, your original post when you acquired this jacket inspired me to go into E&R on one of my visits to London and try it for myself. I didn't buy it, but it was still impressive.

I look forward to shots of the actual event!

Thank you for the kind words, Andy. I've attached a couple of random shots from last night's party - phone photos, unfortunately, and nothing with me in them, but they will give an idea as to the tone of the party.

Would a cummerbund keep your pants up? The function of a cummerbund or waistcoat is to cover your waist. Eliminating the risk of the white triangle of shame.

Thank you for this convincing explanation, it makes sense. From next time on I will add a cummerbund too.

It's beginning to look a lot like black tie season! Okay, as far as I'm concerned, every season is black tie season, but you know what I mean. Here is the two of us out to mark our upcoming wedding anniversary:

My jacket is Thai silk, made by InStyle tailors of Phuket. Shirt is Emma Willis, tie by Le Noeud Papillon, cummerbund by Budd, square by Simonnot-Godard, trousers by Hemrajani, and shoes by Brooks. Her tuxedo tunic is by Burberry, skirt by Ann Taylor, and shoes by Jimmy Choo.
