Seems even Frankie made some missteps in his sartorial ventures.

I thought the braids were quite nice. Classic, but not something I would ever wear myself.
Covered buttons are probably the norm, but uncovered buttons are not necessarily wrong, I believe.
Is there anything really wrong with the tuxedo?

I would guess (hope) the pre-tied bowtie was just thrown onto the mannequin for the display rather than being the actual item Frank wore. I think the hat was also just another collection item, rather than something Frank work with the tuxedo. I'm not too familiar with his style, but he seems to have often worn hats with suits, but not tuxedos.

Wrong? No. I just hate the design. Looks cheap (and tacky) to me.

I have one and enjoy it. Nice fabric and construction; fit is perhaps on the generous side, even in their Milano.

Good to know about the quality. I am happy to have the shirt taken in since I will try it on with my newly adjust tux this weekend.

Not terribly exciting but I recently picked up a nice linen PS from Simonnot-Godard to compliment my dinner jacket. I think the crocheted hem is a subtly unique touch for a black tie ensemble. Thanks to Andy57 for directing my attention to this brand.

Hi guys,
What are your thoughts on shirt studs for an ivory dinner jacket? Are onyx going to work or am I better off going with mother of pearl? I can't seem to find many examples of ivory jackets with black studs and when I do, something looks a little off to me but not sure if its just me?
Thanks
Tim

Imo black is reserved for sad occasions, i mostly go for grey or gold.

Interesting question as I’m contemplating getting an ecru dinner jacket. Black studs seems bit too formal/stark against what some (including me) view as a slightly more fun and less severely formal interpretation of black tie (ie the ecru jacket). Right now I have two Marcella / pique bib shirts, one for studs and one with a fly front. If and when I get my jacket I expect I’ll either wear it with the fly front shirt or else with mother of pearl studs. I just recently got a set from Tyrwhitt which are reversible - onyx on one side and MoP on the other.
Black studs with an ecru jacket wouldn’t be ‘wrong’ or a ‘rules violation’ or whatever if you choose to go there, I reckon it’s just down to personal choice.

Thanks for your replies. Double sided studs are a great idea, thanks.

Take a look at Tyrwhitt and Kent Wang, they both do double sided versions.

Also I seem to remember Foo displaying garnet (dark red) studs with a black or midnight dinner suit to good effect and I reckon a set of those along with a dark red silk pocket square would look great against an ecru dinner jacket. Wouldn’t mind a set of those myself.

Here's a suggestion for studs with an ivory dinner jacket...

These are white enamel with a dark red ring around the outside. I like these a lot and I'm deeply distressed that I lost one on Saturday night.
