Just got this coat from Etsy. No idea what it is really. What do you guys think about the sizing? Could use a visit to the tailor for the sleeves and perhaps chest?

Overall fit looks good, though the sleeves would be short for me. I like long sleeves in a big coat so they cover much of my hands and don't expose everything when I reach out.

Dated 1944, right before the end of the war.

Re: Army great coat. It has the division Insgnia of the First Cavalry Division. This unit
was deployed in the Pacific, mainly the Phillipines, in the last years of World War 2. No
need for such a coat. However, in the US prior to deployment it might have been worn.
Also, the First Cav. served in the occupation of Japan, a country with real winter.

I’m colorblind, so I can’t make out the colors well, but I’m looking for a more business casual topcoat to wear with dark denim and chinos. The Spier topcoat looks good, but I can tell how green it is.

They also have a rust colored one. Ideally I’d look a gray or black/white herringbone that is more casual. I have plenty of topcoats for my suits.

Any recommendations or input on Spier’s “green”? Thank you.

Step 1: Live in a city that is good for thrifting. Step 2: Go out everyday. Step 3: Read all 2.5 million posts on The Official Thrift/Discount Store Bragging Thread. Step 4: Reap the rewards. ;)
I need to move back to NY. I already have a database on old department stores globally and have been following the demises of companies closely. Eventually I will ascend past a saiyan.
