Been a while since I've seen this particular English maker. Nice pair:

And then this is a pretty substantial pop for me:

Anyone know the approximate age? It's seen some heavy use and there's a side panel that's been replaced. Will need a lot of cleaning and conditioning to get the leather supple again.

agreed. late 70's/early 80s. i might be wrong, but Excelled is decent stuff, but a solid notch below Schott.

ssl - i picked up an amazing Schott B3 on craigslist in 2015/16 and it was tragically a size too large for me, ended up selling it to pay rent. so when after almost a decade of trawling recent listings for ‘vintage military jacket’ this popped up last week at ~$75 shipped and i couldn’t smash the buy button fast enough.

doesn’t have quite the jeux ne se quoi as the schott or raf models but otherwise my platonic ideal, miusa in the ~80s, superb condition and built like a brick house.

stay warm and be thankful my thrifting comrades, good luck out there.

GORGOUS JACKET!

reminds me i have this LL Bean Shearling lined bomber i traded @Bon Vivant Life for a few years ago. as cold as it gets in the bay area, i always end up in a flop sweat wearing this thing. LOL!

per the manufacturers tag, circa 1997. made by Golden Bear in San Francisco, CA.

A couple more RT bows and a super clean air-mez. Probably late 80s.

Funny story about this tie. I swung by a Goodwill and didn't see any ties, so I asked the employee if they had any. She responded with "I think we only have one tie, behind the scarves." Didn't have my hopes up, but that one tie ended up being this beautiful Charvet, hidden beneath a bunch of cheap scarves.

Bay Area trip was unfortunately packed, so I only managed to stop by two thrifts. Didn't find much in all the rush, but I left with my first big H.

Not a tie, but I'll take it.

I said to miss purp this morning that I really want to find a North Face backpack. Lo and behold, walk into the store and find this sitting on top of a new bin.

Not exactly the colour I want, but I’ll take it.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
