Only reason this made it out to the sales floor is because the manager at this store had no clue that it was as old as it was. I'm guessing 30's-40's.

The vintage game was strong on this particular day. A couple stores later, I found this guy.

These weren't as great as I had expected and probably should have passed. Still kinda cool, I guess...

Pre-production sample? Manufacture date is 9/20 (unless I'm interpreting it wrong) and absolutely no info on this model anywhere....

This one needs some TLC, but I wasn't about to leave my first piece of Isaia outerwear.

Can't remember if I posted this or not. Found it on the Halloween costume rack. Minty and over 100 years old.

Pendleton shirt is from between 1912 and 1925. The tag is labeled
pendleton, oregon not
Portland, or.

Switch happened around 1925 to 1929 when they developed a full menswear line.

I live in a sea of Pendleton and after thousands upon thousands I have yet to find older than 1930.

Interesting, isn't it, how autocorrect ALWAYS corrects in the direction of smut, never the other way around, even when the words it corrects to are often a stretch from what was typed. I remain convinced that there's some hidden basement at Apple HQ where teams of barely pubescent coders sit, gobbling down edibles, guffawing with laughter, and screwing with autocorrect so it always ends up delivering camel toes etc. The autocorrect fail sites are my go-to when trying to avoid backlog . . . Of course, such fails predate iPhones . . .

Autocorrect is adaptive and user specific.

You are GOAT level! Always in awe of what can be found in Minnesota (you live in Minnesota, right? "

Dare I ask... Anything small and 36S?

Dropped off some bin finds to our friends who own a vintage shop/record store in Oakland. They had a 1950s Pendleton board shirt (pre wool mark, no washing instructions). Priced like the 80s stuff. Now they know.

I feel you on the tie situation. Haven't bought any in like 6 months... But found 3 Charvet... They're as gorgeous as ever. I made an exception.

Seems like it’s stolen from Sean Connery (RIP- the GOAT) circa “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” ...

Sean Connery was the GOAT...but the movie you referenced was George Lazenby, not Connery. Maybe “From Russia With Love“ instead?

Trying to research "the Dayton company" not finding much. But perhaps Dayton as in what eventually became Marshall's and Target?

Glad to see someone is finding awesome clothing still. Haven’t found any decent clothes in a while now but still having decent luck on the random instruments and whatnot. This one seems to be as close to new as it can get without having tags on it. LTD edition that goes for $700...true thrift, about the price of a dominos pizza and order of breadsticks. Also sort of pictured in frame, another set of 80s Bosssse and 90s zassskar LE bike to add to my hoard of vintage speakers and bikes.

Shoot- you’re right! But Russia w love is like 6 years too early (why I didn’t use it... Then I just used first title I thought of that was a bit later...oops)

you only live twice.... I should have hit Wikipedia the first time :) that was 1967... the dupioni silk brioni dinner suit is 1968...

incidentally, if this thing is not bespoke, it is as well-, and comprehensively hand-made at an insane level of quality (the buttonholes, everything on par with cifo or huntsman bespoke). to that end- do any of you know anything about vintage (specifically late 60’s) brioni formalwear? I would love to know if this is bespoke, or what the process for such a suit was at the time, just out of personal interest... since this is going to be in my rotation from here out

Yes. It was Dayton Company before it was Dayton Hudson, then acquired by Marshall’s Fields before that was acquired by Macy’s. The family also started Target and this generation of Dayton’s started a menswear store called Askov Finlayson. No relation to Marshalls the discount store - That was a New England group.

Hah, yes. This area never ceases to amaze me, like the closet full (legitimately had two carts overflowing in the store and filled my spare bedroom closet) of runway Yohji, Ann D, Raf, etc stuff I found a number of years back. Unfortunately nothing that small. Most of it is L or bigger. A few in the M range.

Likely another name for Dayton's, which was one of the big higher-end department stores here for years. Those stores became Marshall Fields in the late 90's and then Macy's about 10 years later. It was referred to as the Dayton-Hudson Corp. for years and was behind Target as well. The original Dayton's building still exists in Minneapolis. They actually just renovated the building.
