Doughnuts should be round, have no hole in the middle, no glaze (just a coating of sugar) and be filled with a jam filling (jelly for those who don't speak proper English ;) ). They're best fresh from the bakery oven, and work surprisingly well with a nip of whisky from a hip flask.

Mostly @jet, what are some of the best donut places in LA? Had a great cruller at Plan Check not too long ago, but I'd prefer an actual donut shop for convenience.

namor that looks amazing damn i need that right now, i ******* hate when they don't have any french crullers when i walk in

clarence, i think donuts are one of those things were there is not once place head and shoulders above (they can only be so good), everyone has their preferences and while I patronize sk on 3rd i don't find it remarkable despite the reviews...the chocolate bars fresh are amazing, perfect dough and not too much chocolate (which i hate bc it either tastes funny or ***** up the ratio), DKs is an independently operated chain i think and are quite good, there are a few here and there

never been to randy's oddly enough

Like FOK I'm Canadian and I know my doughnuts. The best one I ever had was glazed and had a sweet filling made of mashed poppyseeds and raisins. Nickel's Polish Bakery in North Vancouver. Go there.

I think tomorrow will be my cheat day so I might post a dozen french crullers and some eclairs. I am on a quest to find the best eclairs in los angeles.

Since this is now a dedicated donuts thread...

If you live in NYC take you pretentious self out to Bushwick and have some Dunwell Donuts. I refused to eat them for a while because they're vegan, but they're actually really good.

I live 3 stops away from here. I should go. Anything in particular I should try?

Also, Bushwick is about 50x more fun hanging out in than the city.
